BCC Traditions

Welcome and Farewell Song

Bowen Country Club had songs at meals, on hikes, at parties and campfires. The two songs most remembered by BCC alumni are those that opened and closed each group.

This was sung as the children came into the campgrounds and were greeted by the staff:

We welcome you to B.C.C.
We’re mighty glad you’re here
To you we give a mighty shout
And every lasting cheer (Rah – Rah)
We’ll sing you in, We sing you out
To you we give a mighty shout
Hail, hail the gangs all here
And your welcome to B.C.C.

On the last night of camp, campers and counselors stood around the campfire, held hands, and sang:

Remember the times we had here
Remember when you’re away
Remember the friends you made here
And don’t forget to come back some day
Remember besides the campfire, the swims in our pool too
For you all belong to Bowen
And Bowen belongs to you
Belongs to you

Chain Around the World

The "Chain around the world" was created by BCC Alumnus Guido Tardi as a way for the Bowen Country Club and friends to show their support for alumnus fighting in the Second World War. Mrs. Bowen, Mr. and Mrs. Hicks all corresponded with American servicemen during the war.
